Gounaropoulos a form\u00e9 son langage visuel personnel \u00e0 Paris dans les ann\u00e9es 1920. C’est une p\u00e9riode o\u00f9 les cercles artistiques sont influenc\u00e9s par la psychanalyse de Freud et l’art des cultures \u00ab primitives \u00bb, tandis que le surr\u00e9alisme est en pleine gloire. Gounaropoulos est r\u00e9ceptif, bien que s\u00e9lectif, \u00e0 ces exhortations. Il cr\u00e9e ainsi un univers personnel, un espace onirique et fluide, qui peut accueillir, dans toute sa complexit\u00e9, son sujet le plus important, la femme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son talent inn\u00e9 de dessin, sa formation acad\u00e9mique et l’\u00e9tude de la ligne dans l\u2019art grec antique donnent \u00e0 l’artiste l’occasion d’exprimer ses visions int\u00e9rieures \u00e0 travers les courbes lyriques des traits de son crayon. Le dessin joue un r\u00f4le primordial au Vase de fleur et t\u00eate de femme<\/em>, tandis que la dominance de la courbature est absolue, dans le vase, dans le paysage, dans les fleurs, dans les feuilles.
