Beyond nature
05/04/2017 - 15/06/2017

The exhibition presents works by seven contemporary artists who use nature as a starting point for their art. Through their contact with elements from the natural environment and as part of their creative process, the artists gain new experiences, recall old memories and create new ones, express their thoughts and concerns.

Sai Kijima makes puppets from driftwood that he collects on the island of Amorgos. Antonia Kontaxi creates a microcosmos from the natural remnants of Andros. Angeliki Loi paints evocative canvases with leaves. Andreas Nikolaidis draws with fire. Eleni Soumi presents sculptures from beeswax. Sylvia Fessa is exhibiting casts from a perennial oak tree that was cut down by human arrogance and Lina Christina is showing a clay chain that reconnects us with the earth forces.
