Insights into a new gift
09/03/2024 - 01/06/2024

In 2023, the two granddaughters of Giorgos Gounaropoulos, Maria and Despina, donated to the Museum six oil paintings and an important number of preparatory drawings, so that the collection represents the painter’s artistic development and creative process more comprehensively.

On the occasion of this new gift, which inevitably gave new impetus to the research on the life and work of Gounaropoulos, the Museum has organised for Spring 2024 a series of lectures by distinguished art historians, conservators and other scholars, who will highlight lesser-known aspects of the painter’s art.

Alongside the lecture series, the oil paintings, as well as a selection of preparatory drawings from the new donation, will be exhibited in the Museum’s temporary exhibitions hall.

The lectures will take place on Saturday mornings 11:00-12:00, from March 9 to June 1, 2024, while the exhibition regarding the donation will be open to the public during all operating days and hours of the Museum.
