Thirty years of restoration works on the Acropolis, 1975-2005
21/12/2005 - 19/03/2006

Photo exhibition about the restoration works on the Acropolis, celebrating the 30-year anniversary from their commencement.

The photo exhibition presented the necessity of the intervention, the effectiveness of the techniques and materials used, as well as the personal hard labor of all those involved in this restoration “adventure”. At the same time, it provided an artistic approach of the daily life in a technical project, highlighting the high aesthetics of the monuments and of the intervention itself. The design of the exhibition, on two levels that run along the same direction, highlighted the dual character of the photographs, which served as both a documentation tool and as an independent artistic creation.

The exhibition was organised in collaboration with the Acropolis Restoration Service and the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.
The Undersecretary of Culture, Mr. Petros Tatoulis, inaugurated the exhibition.
